主讲人:骆晓伟
Construction is one of the pillar industries in China, employing 6.7% of the total working population and contributing to 26% of the GDP. As the urbanization in China is increasing, the construction industry is still in a fast developing period. However, the construction industry is facing many challenges caused by aging population and low level of intelligence, such as fewer young people are willing to devote to the construction industry. To tackle those challenges, the transformation and upgrading of construction industry using advanced information and communication technologies is identified as one of the key objectives in the 13th five-year plan for the development of the construction industry in China.
Dr. Luo's research program focuses on finding cost-efficient ways to create safer and more intelligent construction job sites using advanced ICTs such as computer vision, wireless sensing, and big data analytic approaches. In this talk, Dr. Luo will review the recent advancement of ICT and explore their applications in the industry, specifically construction industry. Dr. Luo will introduce his most recent projects including 1) Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for Construction Management Education; 2) Jobsite Compliance Checking using Augmented Reality and Image Processing; 3) Autonomous Safety Monitoring for Worker using wireless and wearable sensing.
